As the Big Data industry continues to boom people all over the world are jumping on for the ride. Big Data has exploded into one of the most popular terms in 2015. Anytime there is an industry on the rise, businesses are emerging along side it. Big Data has inspired a lot of new startups in the past few years and these are the ten that stand out from all the rest!

1) DataHero

DataHero was founded in 2011 and has been thriving ever since. DataHero works to develop self service business analytics software. Their cloud based service compiles data from sources such as Dropbox, Excel, Google, etc. and turns it into charts and dashboards. DataHero is currently working on developing analytical applications that can be used in a broad range by everyday businesses without a lot of IT support.

2) Tamr

This company based out of Cambridge, Massachusetts strives to battle the evils of ” schema proliferation.” Tamr develops enterprise data unification software that can then be used by businesses to aid with business analytics tasks and downstream applications. Tamr was started by Micheal Stonebraker and Andy Palmer who also just recently started Vertica Systems, which is now owned by Hewlett Packard.

3) Domo

In April the Utah based company came out of hiding and debuted its application that provides business managers with the access to information that is normally  scattered across many disparate sources all in one single dashboard. Not only is this convenient, but apparently very popular as the company has raised $200 million in series D funding. Domo is now worth $2 million.

4) Arcadia Data 

Arcadia Data is taking a big step in the Big Data industry as they are working towards creating visual analytics software that will allow traditional analytics tools to directly access Hadoop data without the help of an IT department. This technology will use Hadoop as the operating system, allowing it direct access to Hadoop data store in the distributed file system. They plan to launch the complete platform by the end of the year.

5) Looker

Looker is a Software as a service business analytics platform that puts actionable intelligence in the hands of the employees who need it most. The cloud based tools connect with many sources including BigQuery, HP Veritica and Redshift.This company offers “powered by looker” a service that allows businesses and cloud software developers to quickly deploy data analytic tools to their customers.
